Western Cleddau facts
Western Cleddau is a watercourse in the Swansea area, carrying water, seeds and soil downstream through the city and its valleys. It is part of the Haverfordwest, Tenby & the Pembrokeshire Coast area, within about 30 miles of Swansea.
- The river flows about 50 kilometres south through Wolfscastle and Haverfordwest before turning tidal.
- It joins the Eastern Cleddau at Picton Point, forming the Daugleddau estuary of the Milford Haven waterway.
- Drains part of the Swansea area, eventually reaching Swansea Bay and the Bristol Channel.
- Water levels rise quickly after heavy rain, moving gravel, soil and plant material downstream.
