- It turns tidal near Pontarddulais, marking the Carmarthenshire-Swansea boundary down to Carmarthen Bay.
- Its banks are a recognised route for Himalayan balsam spread.
- Drains part of the Swansea area, eventually reaching Swansea Bay and the Bristol Channel.
