About the area

Bynea facts

Bynea is a Gower-edge settlement of lanes, hedge banks, farmland and older stone boundaries. It is part of the Llanelli, Burry Port & the Amman Valley area, within about 30 miles of Swansea.

  • Yspitty once held a ferry port across the River Loughor, closed when the first bridge was built in the 1800s.
  • Formerly called Cwm-Felin, the village lies close to the River Loughor near Llanelli.
  • Sits on or close to the Gower Peninsula, the United Kingdom's first Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, designated in 1956.
  • Field boundaries, lanes and older stone walls give the area its long-established rural pattern.
