About the area

Merlin's Bridge facts

Merlin's Bridge is a Gower-edge settlement of lanes, hedge banks, farmland and older stone boundaries. It is part of the Haverfordwest, Tenby & the Pembrokeshire Coast area, within about 30 miles of Swansea.

  • The village takes its name from nearby Merlin's Hill; a road act of 1830 named the crossing.
  • It lies just south of Haverfordwest on the A4076 to Milford Haven.
  • Sits on or close to the Gower Peninsula, the United Kingdom's first Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, designated in 1956.
  • Field boundaries, lanes and older stone walls give the area its long-established rural pattern.
