About the area
Little Haven facts
Little Haven is an exposed stretch of the Swansea and Gower coastline, shaped by salt wind, sand and rock. It is part of the Haverfordwest, Tenby & the Pembrokeshire Coast area, within about 30 miles of Swansea.
- It began as a small fishing village and later exported coal from its tiny harbour.
- An RNLI lifeboat station operated here from 1882 until its closure in 1921.
- Forms part of Swansea's coastline along the Bristol Channel, where the tidal range is among the largest in the world.
- Cliffs, dunes and shingle here support specialised plants that cope with salt, wind and shifting sand.
