About the area

Felinfoel facts

Felinfoel is a Gower-edge settlement of lanes, hedge banks, farmland and older stone boundaries. It is part of the Llanelli, Burry Port & the Amman Valley area, within about 30 miles of Swansea.

  • Felinfoel Brewery, built in 1878 by David John, became the first UK brewery to can beer, in 1935.
  • The Victorian gravity-fed brewery still stands astride the River Lliedi in the village.
  • Sits on or close to the Gower Peninsula, the United Kingdom's first Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, designated in 1956.
  • Field boundaries, lanes and older stone walls give the area its long-established rural pattern.
