Newcastle Emlyn is a Gower-edge settlement of lanes, hedge banks, farmland and older stone boundaries. It is part of the Carmarthen, the Tywi & the Taf Estuary area, within about 30 miles of Swansea.
- Newcastle Emlyn Castle was built around 1240 by the Welsh lord Maredudd ap Rhys.
- The ruined castle sits on a steep promontory in a loop of the River Teifi.
