How we work in Neath, Port Talbot & the Neath Valley

  • Free initial quote from your photos to help confirm it is buddleia (butterfly bush)
  • Map the stand and its edges before work starts
  • Contain roots, seed and soil so it can't spread
  • Use the lightest method that works, with precise herbicide only where it is the safer option
  • Return visits and written records until regrowth stops

Local picture

Heavy industrial ground along the Neath and lower Tawe carries knotweed almost continuously, and the River Neath and its tributaries move balsam seed down the whole valley. Covered by Neath Port Talbot County Borough Council on council land.

Pressure from invasive plants here: Severe. Buddleia (butterfly bush) is less common here than elsewhere, so we check identification carefully.

Legal status: Not on Schedule 9, but a listed problem plant for buildings.
