About the area
Pyle facts
Pyle is a Gower-edge settlement of lanes, hedge banks, farmland and older stone boundaries. It is part of the Porthcawl, Kenfig & the Bridgend Coast area, within about 30 miles of Swansea.
- St James's Church was built in 1471 with stone taken from Kenfig's church, lost beneath the sand.
- The Grade I listed church stands on the old road to Margam, in Bridgend county borough.
- Sits on or close to the Gower Peninsula, the United Kingdom's first Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, designated in 1956.
- Field boundaries, lanes and older stone walls give the area its long-established rural pattern.
